UGG-Style & Comfort:

The UGG a staple of the early 2000’s they are on track to make a comeback with every girl either already having a pair or having them on their Christmas wish-list. With Y2K-inspired fashion resurfacing it was only a matter of time that so to did the UGG boot, From Kate Moss and Lindsay Lohan to Bella Hadid and Emma Chamberlain. From the knee high tall boot to the new UGG mini that has been leading the comeback story, they make a very big fashion statement without you having to try too hard or torture your feet in the process. A fantastic job done by a fantastic team to bring back what seemed to be a dead and buried fashion piece, as described by Allaire, C. (2023) ”They wanted to put Ugg back on the fashion map, and remind consumers why they fell in love with the shoes in the first place”. The beauty of comfort and style is something that really defines this current generation of fashion lovers, being able to portray an image without having to try too hard.

The Samba Phenomenon:

”An icon of timeless style” as stated by Malaysia, L. (2023), the samba has well and truly made its comeback, the soccer shoe turned fashion piece has captured the hearts of everyone as you will find it hard to go a day without spotting at least five people with a pair on. Dating back to the 1950’s the timeless silhouette, with a mix of leather and suede upper provide the perfect balance and wow factor to an outfit in the most simplest way. Their mix or durability and consistency make them a must have shoe for everyone, with their extensive array of colour ways too this shoe proves the saying ”if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” to be very true. These pictures define what the samba means to me, modelled in the above images by my friend Aly a sporty girl who plays Gaelic football for DCU and Na Fiana. She demonstrates the diversity of the shoe as she can wear them to training or a match and also in to college to make a fashion statement on and off the field.

Lacoste:Sporty Fashion

The iconic green crocodile, an ever present logo in the hallways of every preppy private school across the globe. Young men with the green crocodile clad across the chest of their polos since the 1950’s, this time modelled on the feet of my dear friend Shane and his lovely white tennis shoes. Made with such care and detail the sleek shape and design of these shoes are what make them stand out without overcomplicating things ”The best Lacoste products are made in France and have superior craftsmanship” as per Smith, A.T. (2022). Shane however doesn’t see these shoes as something that defines him however much his south side stereotypes want to shine true, he lets his lovable personalty and comforting soul speak for themselves.

550 Girl:

A singular photo to describe a current fallen great the New balance 550, 12 months ago had the same aura as the samba but just as quick as the rise to superiority is the fall back down to fashion mediocrity. As fashion trends usually go the 550 did well to stay relevant for as long as it did, proving how hard It can be to make a timeless classic. Worn by Keeva a once dominant shoe in her wardrobe is now just another shoe in her rotation choosing to sport them on very odd occasions now. Just as we change with the seasons so to do our shoe and fashion choices, the same way we grow and mature so to do our shoe and fashion choices. Who knows maybe in another 20 years we will see the revival of the New Balance 550, but for now one of the greats has well and truly fallen.
